Upcoming Deadline for Submitting the 2016 ICH CAHPS Facility Non-Participation Form

This is a reminder that in-center hemodialysis (ICH) facilities that will not be administering the In-center Hemodialysis CAHPS (ICH CAHPS) Survey in calendar year (CY) 2016 must complete and submit the 2016 Facility Non-Participation Form on the ICH CAHPS website by 5:00 PM Eastern Time on February 28, 2016.

As noted in an email sent to in-center hemodialysis (ICH) facilities on January 14, 2016, all ICH facilities must determine whether they will be required to administer the ICH CAHPS Survey in CY2016 to meet the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ quality reporting requirements for payment year 2018. If your facility is not administering the ICH CAHPS Survey in CY2016, log into the ICH CAHPS website using your user credentials and choose “Non-Participation Form” under the For Facilities menu.

ICH facilities should note that the ICH CAHPS Coordination Team does not know how many survey-eligible patients an ICH facility served in CY2015; therefore, we do not know which facilities are required to administer the ICH CAHPS Survey in CY2016. If your facility does not submit the 2016 ICH CAHPS Facility Non-Participation Form by the February 28, 2016 deadline, the Coordination Team will assume that your facility WILL BE administering the ICH CAHPS Survey in CY2016. The Coordination Team will therefore select and provide a sample for the 2016 ICH CAHPS Surveys to the ICH CAHPS Survey vendor that your facility authorized to conduct the survey on its behalf. If your facility will not be administering the survey in CY2016, it is extremely important that you submit the 2016 Facility Non-Participation Form on or before the February 28, 2016 deadline so that a sample file is not provided to your authorized ICH CAHPS Survey vendor.

ICH facilities should note that the Facility Non-Participation Form is an annual form that is valid only for the year in which it is submitted. ICH facilities that submitted the Facility Non-Participation Form in CY2015 must also submit the 2016 Facility Non-Participation Form if they will not be administering the ICH CAHPS Survey in CY2016.

Facilities that will not be administering the survey in CY2016 have the option of submitting the Facility Non-Participation Form or requesting that the Coordination Team delete their registration and vendor authorization on the ICH CAHPS website. If the facility registration/vendor authorization on the website is deleted, however, facilities must remember that they will need to re-register and re-authorize a survey vendor on the ICH CAHPS website if and when they decide to administer the survey.
